Wed, March 25: Early Release. Draw examples of how to do banners and accents. Students get approval for best thumbnail before being given watercolor paper to start their sketches. (remember: thumbnails must be colored). They will then lightly and carefully lay out their text and image using a ruler and the reference, enlarging their approved thumbnail. Students should make a thumbnail of their insect in their sketchbook, making notes about what techniques they will use where, which pieces will be the most elevated, what papers they will use where (cut and glue little swatches in sketchbook.) etc. They should also color their thumbnail.
