Week 5: August 31- September 4

Mon, August 31: Sketchbook Check: Hightop Converse.  Go over Ink/Pen use and students work on ink practice. HW: Study Guides due Thursday: 9.3 Test Day.  Study for your test!  Flashcard images available on website (not required).

Tues, September 1:   Students finish ink practice and then continue working on shoe project.  HW:  Study Guides due Thursday: 9.3 Test Day.  Study for your test!  Flashcard images available on website (not required).

Wed, September 2: Early Release: Students continue working on shoe project.  They should continue working on contour lines and textures.  They need 5 different types of mark-making marks visible!   HW:  Study Guides due Thursday: 9.3 Test Day.  Study for your test!  Flashcard images available on website (not required).

Thur, September 3:  Students take Test and study guides are collected.  When finished, they can work on their shoes.    HW:  None.

Fri, September 4:   They need 5 different types of mark-making visible!   HW: None (No School Monday: R&R Weekend!)

Week 4: August 24-28

Mon, August 24: Sketchbook Check: Van Gogh Landscape and Practice Shoe Project.  Briefly go over new homework.  HW: Profile Converse due Monday, August 31, Tonight: Step 1.  (Finished shoes must have contour line and use graphite mechanical pencil to match values in the reference.)

Tues, August 25:   Students continue working on their practice shoes.  Must have mark-making (must have 5 different types of line and Contour line).   HW: Profile Converse due Monday, August 31, Tonight: Step 2.  (Finished shoes must have contour line and use graphite mechanical pencil to match values in the reference.)

Wed, August 26: Early Release: Practice Shoe (finish!).  Must have mark-making (must have 5 different types of line and Contour line).  Collect finished shoe projects.    HW: Profile Converse due Monday, August 31, Tonight: Step 3.  (Finished shoes must have contour line and use graphite mechanical pencil to match values in the reference.)

Thur, August 27:  Get good paper and label (if they haven’t already).  Each student arranges their still life (making two-four marks on the page to make it the same size as the shoe.  Students lightly lay out preliminary drawing on good paper.    HW: Profile Converse due Monday, August 31, Tonight: Step 4.  (Finished shoes must have contour line and use graphite mechanical pencil to match values in the reference.)  Study Guides due on Test Day: Thursday, September 3.

Fri, August 28:   Go over Ink/Pen use and students work on ink practice worksheet.  HW: Profile Converse due Monday, August 31, Tonight: Step 4 and Finish.  (Finished shoes must have contour line and use graphite mechanical pencil to match values in the reference.)  Study Guides due on Test Day: Thursday, September 3.

Week 3: August 17-21

Mon, August 17: Sketchbook Check: pig.  Go over van gogh art history.  Briefly go over new homework: guidelines.  Line Discussion with handout and examples.   HW: Van Gogh Landscape due Monday 8.24, Tonight: Step 1.  Study for Elements of Art and Drawing Steps Quiz Thursday 8.20.

Tues, August 18: Finish line discussion if needed.  Introduce Shoe Project with Handout and small practice shoe in sketchbook with mark-making.  Students work on practice shoe.  HW: Van Gogh Landscape due Monday 8.24, Tonight: Step 2.  Study for Elements of Art and Drawing Steps Quiz Thursday 8.20.

Wed, August 19: Early Release.  Review for Quiz Tomorrow! Continue working on practice shoe.  HW: Van Gogh Landscape due Monday 8.24, Tonight: Step 3.  Study for Elements of Art and Drawing Steps Quiz Tomorrow, 8.20.

Thur, August 20:  Take Quiz.  Continue Practice Shoe.  HW: Van Gogh Landscape due Monday 8.24, Tonight: Step 4.
