Week 2: October 26-30

Mon, October 26:  Sketchbook Check:  BW and “Desperate Man” HW.  Finish Intro to Printmaking Presentation with ppt and discussion.  Students look at examples of project.  Students work on 3 thumbnails.  When finished, they need to get approval to work on their final composition on the correct sized scrap paper.  They must make notes about their strategies in their sketchbook and color their thumbnails to separate black/white areas.  HW:  Durer Melancholia Homework Due Monday, November 9.  Tonight Step 1.  Printmaking terms quiz this Thursday 10/29!

Thur, October 29: Students take Quiz.  Students continue working on their final composition on newsprint to get ready for transfer.  They need to color the black areas fully with graphite.  HW:  Durer Melancholia Homework Due Monday, November 9.  Tonight Step 3.

Fri, October 30:    Quickly go over Transfer method.  Students should be transferring their images to their lino blocks and going over their lines and black areas with sharpie.  HW:  Durer Melancholia Homework Due Monday, November 9.  Tonight Step 3 continued.

Week 9: September 28- October 2

Mon, September 28:   Sketchbook Check: All Figure Drawings.  Brief Pastel Demo.  Students begin pastel on their final project, starting with contour line where appropriate.  Remind them to do swatches first and treat it like a color by number.  Project possibly due at end of quarter 10.7.  HW:   Study Guide due on Test Day Friday 10.2.

Tues, September 29:   Students continue pastel on their final project.  Project due at end of quarter 10.7.  HW: Study Guide due on Test Day Friday 10.2.

Wed, September 30:  Early Release: Students may be pulled for picture day.  Students continue pastel on their final project.  Project due at end of quarter 10.7.   HW: Study Guide due on Test Day Friday 10.2. 

Thur, October 1: Students continue pastel on their final project.  Project due at end of quarter 10.7.  HW:  None

Fri, October 2:   Students turn in study guide and take Midterm Exam.  When finished, they can work on their pastel projects  HW:  None

Week 8: September 21-25

Mon, September 21:   Sketchbook Check: research spread, all photo references.  Review how to planar analyze a face with notes and example draw with me lesson.  Begin practice ¾ view face from packet.  HW:   Study Guide for next test (including crossword) due on Test day:  Friday, October 2.

Tues, September 22:   Continue ¾ view face and finish.  If time, start measuring profile face.  HW: Study Guide for next test (including crossword) due on Test day:  Friday, October 2.

Wed, September 23:  Half Day: Go over how to draw a profile face.  If Time: Review how to draw a hand draw with me lesson.  Students draw hand from reference packet.   HW: Study Guide for next test (including crossword) due on Test day:  Friday, October 2. 

Thur, September 24: Finish Hand notes/demo.  Students begin planning for their masterwork project by gridding their photo and good paper.  HW: Study Guide for next test (including crossword) due on Test day:  Friday, October 2. 

Fri, September 25:   Assembly Schedule:  Students finish gridding out on both their papers.  Students start to sketch their preliminary portrait drawing on their good paper.  This should include planar analysis!  HW:  Study Guide for next test (including crossword) due on Test day:  Friday, October 2.

Week 7: September 14-18

Mon, September 14:   Finish Animal Projects and self-evaluate and work on their homework.  Due Today!.  HW:   Study for Quiz this Thursday, 9/17 on Watercolor and Pen Terms.  

Tues, September 15:   Sketchbook Check: Stubbs Zebra.  Go over homework assignment with discussion and examples.  Go over masterwork project with discussion and examples.  Students choose masterwork.  Make sure students know their artist and what size to make their final printed photo and masterwork in color.  HW: Artist Research and masterwork references due Monday, September 14.  Study for Quiz Thursday, 9/17 on Watercolor and Pen Terms.

Wed, September 16, Early Release: Review how to draw a face with notes and example draw with me lesson.   HW: Artist Research and masterwork references due Monday, September 15.  Study for Quiz Thursday, 9/17 on Watercolor and Pen Terms.

Tues, September 1: Go over how to write for the study guide.  Project Work Time Continued:  Inking.  HW: Study Guides (including review crossword puzzle) due on Test Day: Thursday, September 3.
