SAT & ACT Test Preparation
Test Preparation at Scottsdale Preparatory Academy
Scottsdale Preparatory Academy provides students with intentional, grade-level test preparation throughout their high school experience.
9th grade: students take the ACT Aspire
10th grade: students take the PreACT and PSAT
11th grade: students take the PSAT and ACT
This sequential approach allows students to become familiar with standardized testing, build confidence, and develop the skills necessary for success over time. Our consistent investment in test preparation has contributed, in part, to Scottsdale Prep earning National Merit Scholars each year, reflecting the strong academic preparation and commitment of our students.
Standardized testing can be an important part of the college application process, and thoughtful preparation can help students feel more confident and familiar with the format of the SAT or ACT. We encourage students to begin by understanding the test format, taking an official practice test, and identifying areas for improvement. Students should choose a preparation approach that fits their learning style, schedule, and goals.

Getting Started
We recommend that students:
Take an official practice test to establish a baseline.
Review their results and identify areas for improvement.
Choose either the SAT or ACT based on their strengths and preferences rather than assuming one test is better than the other.
Create a realistic preparation schedule and practice consistently.
Take advantage of free official resources before paying for test preparation.
Meet with the College Counseling Department for guidance on testing timelines and how testing may fit into their individual college application strategy.
Important: Colleges have different testing policies, and policies can change. Students should review the testing requirements and recommendations for the colleges they are considering and speak with us when making testing decisions.
