Technology #1 Google Classroom
Google classroom is a learning platform that is used in our school system. It is used by students to access assignments and other key information. Teachers create the classrooms and decide what assignments students need to complete. Google is a free tool to use and can be accessed on computer or by mobile app.
According to Wikipedia, “Google Classroom is a free blended learning platform developed by Google for educational institutions that aims to simplify creating, distributing, and grading assignments. The primary purpose of Google Classroom is to streamline the process of sharing files between teachers and students.” Google classroom has the whole process already developed and all you have to do is use the platform.
For this assignment, I want to learn how to create a classroom and post videos for my students to listen to and possibly activities that I would like them to complete. I haven’t created a Google classroom yet and I need to do so. With Covid being so rampant and our schools seeing increasing cases, I need to be ready for a time when we might be on Virtual learning for a long time. We have done a few days of virtual learning, but just in case it increases I need to be ready to do my part on virtual learning days.
Google classroom is easy to use, built for collaboration, and can be accessed from anywhere. Once you create your classroom, you’ll be given a code that the students will enter to access your classroom. Once they enter the code, they will have access to your classroom and any and all assignments that may be posted.
My objective for learning Google Classroom is to be able to connect with my students when we are on a virtual learning schedule. It is important for me to be able to connect with students when we are not in person. My students mean the world to me and I want to provide them with the best education that I can.
Technology #2 Loom
Loom is a video meeting platform that is used to connect students and teachers with each other. It can also be used to record videos for your students to watch at their convenience. It can also be used to record lesson plans and other various things.
I want to learn how to use Loom so that I can record myself reading books and doing other various activities. This goes along with Google Classroom. It is my job to teach the students what I know.
Using TPACK, I will learn Technology knowledge: knowledge about the internet and video software. Pedagogical Knowledge used in teaching methods and how to design lessons. Using Technological content knowledge I’ll show my understanding of the content and how technology can be used in Loom and Google Classroom.
My objective for learning Loom is to be able to connect with students when we are not in person. I plan on using this time to get to know Loom and learn about using it the correct way. That way, when the time comes, I’ll be able to connect with them when I need to.
