Welcome to the 5th and 6th grade gifted classroom. This school year we will be studying The Great Depression Era and surrounding time period. We will have STEAM activities, MakerSpace activities, Bibliotherapy lessons, and a time of learning more about each student's learning style and interests areas through Thrively. I'm excited about our lessons for this year.

Kindness Project from last school year!
My students using creativity during some Makerspace time. Some great thinking occurred and some great ideas shared.
STEM activity of "Saving Sam": The studenst had to figure out how to get "Sam" back in his life jacket and put back in his overturned boat.
Here are some activities from the last several weeks. Here they are taking old electronics apart to see how they work. Later, they will create a new invention with these old parts.
Here are some random pictures. We have had a great time over the last several days learning how listening and dancing to Jazz music helped people survive The Great Depression. We learned how to write scatting songs like Louis Armstrong. I'm very proud of my students.
