Scituate Beginning Band

Welcome!

The Scituate Music Department is thrilled to announce that we will have beginner Instrumental lessons starting in the week of  October 2nd, 2023! It is a new year and new beginnings. This is a great opportunity for your child to learn how to play a band instrument, a long-standing tradition in the Scituate Public Schools. All the steps and information on choosing and renting instruments, receiving instruments, books and stands, music lesson schedule, and the Parent Information night can be found below at this site!

Step 1:

View Instrument Demonstration Videos

Students in our band program have made videos of themselves demonstrating the instruments that your child can choose.  They do a great job of showing your child the basics of the instrument and what their experience has been in their first year of study.

Step 2:

Attend the Family Instrument Night

Please save the date: September 21st, at 7pm, for the Family Instrument Night on Zoom where the music teachers will go over the Beginner program and answer any questions that you may still have. We look forward to this new musical adventure with your child!

Step 3:

Complete the Sign Up Form  (Deadline is September 21st)

After viewing the demonstration videos, decide on your top 2 instrument choices.  A balanced instrumentation is important to the success of the band program as students progress through middle school and high school.  The music teachers will assign first choice instruments in most cases, but they may reach out to determine if your child's second choice would be considered.  You will receive a notification about which instrument has been assigned, and then you may begin the rental process.

Step 4:

Review Rental Forms and Information

After being notified of your child's assigned instrument, you may then formally begin the rental process with Goulet and Co.  Please do NOT begin this process earlier.
