The process of you realizing that you’re growing up is terrifying. You start to look back on all the memories, that you remember of––the foods you liked, the shows you used to watch, and a never-ending optimistic feeling. When you look back at my childhood, I took these simple times for granted. You soon realize that you have a smile slowly creeping up onto your face. You start to appreciate the things that your parents gave to you when you were younger that others didn’t.
However, when you look at your life now, you believe that it’s miserable. That’s only because you’re currently living it. But to be honest, life is just gonna get worse now if you don’t take the initiative of what you could be doing. Everyone has their own problems, and here you are crying over your own, but that’s fine because that’s life. “Life isn’t fair,” because it really isn’t. You won’t get what you think you deserve or really want, that’s just how life goes. Yet you should at least feel good about how much you progressed in your life. Things could’ve ended differently a long time ago, but you still persevered. The people around you supported you, and in return, you ran away from their support. Still here you are begging for the appreciation you needed to keep thriving.
Sooner or later, 5 to 10 years later in the future, you’ll be proud of yourself that’s
struggling tremendously now. You’ll regret, appreciate, and reflect on everything you did in the past years you lived. But that’s life! You live to live. The process is always the hardest part in life, you only have to work and wait to see how your future turns out. So…
Dear future Michelle,
I hope you live to the fullest and best you can even in the worst times of your life. Right now your younger self is panicking because she’s going to take the SATs tomorrow morning, she’s wishing she could be smarter or have the strive that her older sister has when it comes to studying. But she doesn’t, and guess what… that’s life. Just pray and keep working the best you can. Live the life you want.
Love from our same beating hearts,
Missy
