The smell of a mixture of Oreo milkshakes and chicken, as you walk into the Chick-fil-A, fills your nostrils, knowing damn well you’re going to tear up twelve-piece chicken nuggets and play in the indoor playground. But before you do any of that you have to help your mom and dad find a table as they wait in line.
You look for a seat with your older sister and begin to feel claustrophobic and small by how many people are in the restaurant. You catch up to your sister as she doesn’t even tower over these adults, but still makes a pathway for you to follow, and finally finds a seat. As you wait at the table, you begin to feel relieved and not claustrophobic anymore. But instead anxious that somebody would steal a chair from our four-seated table or ask if my sister and I were the only ones there to try and take our table. You felt this need to protect this castle (table) from all the bandits (the customers) in the kingdom (restaurant). But then see a shining light fall upon your face as you see your parents walk towards you like knights in shining armor.
Before you knew it, your knights in shining armor meant that it was time to go mayhem in the playground. You ask your sister to play with you but know that she would say “No.”, yet you still ask. “No.” You feel a bit upset that you have to play with yourself in a room filled with strangers and can’t talk to someone that you always follow. But still, you stride on.
You open the big, black, metal door to take off your shoes and run into the tree trunk to feel a rush of happiness. As you climb these spiral stairs inside the plastic trunk you make it to the top and go straight into the room where the small piano is. You look inside to see it empty, and you think to yourself about what you could play because of the piano lessons you were taking. You sit there playing “Honey bee,” but always end up playing what’s up on the wall that became art decoration. You always felt that you had to play well enough to create someone wanting to stare at you as you play.
Soon enough, you got a few stares but slowly got bored and went down the slide, the entrance only being a room away. You slide down in the yellow tube feeling like you’re in another world. When you get to the bottom you climb the slides’ exit way, sitting on the slightest gap that was put in for you to test out your flexibility in front of everyone. You feel proud of yourself every single time you do that, but feel a bit embarrassed when a person goes through the slide to see you looking down at them. Once you had the time of your life, your sister comes in and tells you that the food’s here. And that’s when you knew that it was time to cool down and time to grub.
