You're a lifeguard. Your summer is ending and you truly don't want to go back to school in the fall. You have made friends and for the past couple of months, this has been your life. You come to work every day, clock in, say hi to your co-workers/friends, then get ready to let people in the pool. As the months slowly go by your memory fades how you use to live life before this job. All the fun and interesting things kept you distracted from the real world, the world outside of being a lifeguard. However, your memory comes back when your boss comes to let you know you have a week left on the job before the pool closes. Life has been great but it's time to move on. “Until next summer” is what you say and all you can think about.
Young Lifeguards who worked last summer or ever may find this relatable. You are living your best life, having fun, getting paid a ton of money at a young age, and building relationships with people are only a few of the bonuses you get when you get a job like this. It is probably the best job you can have because most of the time you are getting paid to sit in a chair for a couple of hours. If that gets boring you can get in the water with your lifeguard floaty and relax in the crazy weather the summer brings. Being a lifeguard feels more like a privilege than a job and I love it. I think that it's a big part of my life because it's my job right now but it also taught me a lot of the social skills that I have today. I use to get nervous talking in front of people but when I was a guard, I had to let kids in and out of the pool. So I had to project my voice with authority but also play it cool and calm. This job is one of the best things that happen to me and I can't wait to get back into it this upcoming summer. I wonder what will e different this summer? Maybe nothing at all.
