What is the challenge for 2023??
Major environmental issues including climate change and pollution are currently facing our world. Our team was tasked with researching environmental issues, identifying one to address, and creating a solution to help mitigate that issue. The challenge was to then build a prototype out of K’Nex that supported our solution! https://sites.google.com/berksiu.org/bciu-stem-design-challenge/home
Future City is a hands-on cross-curricular educaitonal program that brings STEM to life for students in grades 6 through 8th grades. This was our first time competing in this global agency-based challenge! Using the Engineering Design Process and project management skills, students showcased their solutions to a city-wide susstainability issue. This year's challenge asked students to address climate change mitigation effort in their newly created and futuristic city. https://futurecity.org/ Their city model was presented at the competition at the Delaware County Community College. Way to go, 'Adroit City'!
