Schuylkill Valley Elementary

1:1 Student Devices

Schuylkill Valley Elementary School has begun a one-to-one technology initiative that puts Chromebooks in the hands of every student in grades 2-4 and iPads for students in Kindergarten and 1st grade. Students have been using these devices with their classroom teacher to enhance their learning and the curriculum. The teachers have been participating in professional development training throughout the year and have been spending our In-Service time creating and learning grade-level appropriate materials. Teachers are feeling comfortable with this change and in turn, the students are excited to incorporate more technology into their learning.

For the 2022-2023 school year, students will each be assigned one iPad in grades K-1 and one Chromebook in grades 2-4. In our elementary school, iPads and Chromebooks will be available for school and home use.

What is a 1:1 Initiative? Who is participating?

A 1:1 Initiative is when each student receives their own device. Students in grades 2,3, and 4 will each be receiving their own Chromebook. Students in grades K and 1 will each be receiving their own iPad.

Why a 1:1 Initiative?

At Schuylkill Valley we are hoping to provide students with the following by giving them each access to their own device:

-Access to high-quality digital resources

-Encouraging students to be more organized and meet their learning goals

-Apply technology skills that will prepare students to be effective communicators and collaborators
