As an annual tradition, the week before the Homecoming dance is a spirit week for the high school, which is concluded with the Homecoming football game and dance. This year, from October 2nd to the 9th, students are encouraged to participate in the daily themes. Picked by the student council, the themes are:
10/2 - Goodbye Summer, Hello Spirit Week (Hawaiian)
10/5 - Jersey/Sports Day
10/6 - Country vs. Country Club Day
10/7 - PJ Day
10/8 - Teachers vs. Students Day (Students dress as teachers and vice versa)
10/9 - Red & Black Day
On Wednesday, October 7th, an assembly will be held to introduce and advertise the Homecoming Court. The candidates are introduced and must answer a randomly drawn question on stage. The Homecoming Queen will be one of these ladies, and she is voted on by the school. Keep an ear out, because excellent advice is given during this ceremony! The Homecoming Queen reveal happens during halftime at the Homecoming football game.
The Spirit King is chosen by the school through the Coin Wars fundraiser. In all lunches, there are buckets for each candidate, and anyone can put money into the buckets, with all coins counting as positive points for the candidate and bills counting as negative points for the candidate. Each of the candidates picked a charity to represent, and the winner gets to donate all funds raised to the charity of their choice. The Spirit King winner is revealed during the Homecoming Court assembly.
On Friday, October 9th, our seasonal fall sports pep rally will be held during 7th and 8th periods. This pep rally will be run by the homecoming court, and this year is USA-themed. The aim of the pep rally is to bring the energy up and get excited for the Homecoming Football game that night, while also showcasing our fall athletes by having them compete in fun games like relay races. Keep your eyes peeled, because the cheerleaders have a routine planned!
For this year's Homecoming game, the Panthers will be facing Lancaster Catholic at 7 PM in the stadium on October 9th. The theme for this game is pink out. During halftime, the homecoming court candidates will walk down the field with their family or escort. Then, the 2026 Homecoming Queen will be crowned! It's definitely worth coming to see these beautiful ladies!
To wrap up the week, last but certainly not least is the Homecoming dance. This year, the dance is on October 10th and will be held from 6-9 PM in the cafeteria and/or the gym. There will be music, food & drinks (Chick-fil-A!!!), and good times! Many students will go somewhere scenic beforehand for pictures. Tickets are no longer on sale. See you there!
This goes without saying, but the Pantherette is not trying to upset anybody, and EVERYONE in the running deserves to have a fair chance at winning. Even if you’re not fond of someone, allowing them a positive light is important! Just remember to be kind to everybody!
