Evelyn Recinos- Menéndez was born and raised in Guatemala. This is her 15th year at Schuyler Community Schools serving students from different parts of the world. One of her main goals is to create a diverse and equitable learning environment by implementing a holistic educational framework in which students use his/her own linguistic and cultural resources through the integration of the four domains of language: oral, reading, writing, and metalinguistic.
Evelyn has a beautiful family. She is married to Daniel and have three beautiful children: Alexis, Dayevelyn, and Victor Daniel. She loves spending time and traveling with her family. On her free time she likes to paint, write, and read. She also volunteers her time as an UNUM ambassador for the state of Nebraska, assisting families in a small village located on the east coast of Guatemala, provides professional development as part of Global VIDA, presents for national /international educational conferences, and creates educational material for teachers in the bilingual program. In addition to providing a high quality education, providing and assisting families and her community is one of her top priorities.
The mission in our classroom is:
to play a lasting role in the students’ development as active learners, critical thinkers, problem-solvers, and citizens by building a partnership with students, parents, school and the community.
strive to provide a wide range of learning experiences reflecting an appreciation for diversity.
create a place where every student is treated with respect, dignity, love, and made aware of his/her importance within the classroom.
ensure every student is motivated to come to school and learn.
"Your attitude and actions will be the grounds for setting a positive and engaging learning environment for all students, families, colleagues, and community."
