We close out one of the most challenging, but also rewarding school years in recent memory with an opportunity to reconnect with one another with renewed energy. Beyond a chance to learn with and from our peers in a focused and joyful space, we use this time together to reimagine and reframe theater instruction, reflecting on our teaching and artistry to best support our students' personal well-being and collective creative expression.
We continue to center professional learning on knowing students well, on developing a community that nurtures potential, growth and creative risk-taking. Our 2022-2023 Citywide series in theater focused on:
Fostering student meaning-making and joy in their artistic expression to emphasize the impact of thinking like an artist and expose students to multiple forms of theatrical expression as well as the variety of potential theater career pathways
Prioritizing socio-emotional well-being and creative expression for our students, ourselves and our communities.
Offering context to connect and ground theater exploration in examining the world(s) around us.
Building community among theater teachers, recognizing our diverse backgrounds, training, and unique perspectives.
Thank you all for the voodoo you do so well. Truly, and please know that you are tremendously respected, appreciated and loved for who you are and what you do. Your impact on your students transcends the studio and school semesters.
