In The Theatre Arts Studio class, students will learn about: : acting, directing and producing theatre, playwriting, voice production, analysis of a character and developing that character, technical theatre: set design, set construction, stage lighting, sound, costumes, makeup, props, musical theatre, other theatre forms, film, television, electronic media, drama and theatre history, monologue and scene study, play analysis and play reading, and play production which is putting it all together in performance.
Theater Experiences
In addition to learning about theatre, students are also required to attend theatrical productions on Broadway and Off-Broadway. Attending these productions regularly, monthly, are known as Theatre Experiences. These Theatre Experiences are an extension of what was learned in The Theatre Arts Studio class. These experiences allow students to examine, view a live performance and make critical judgments on a production based upon their learned classroom experiences. Theatre students receive credit for attending the theatrical productions along with keeping a theatre journal which documents their theatre experiences.
