This class offers students experiential (involving or based on experience and observation) learning about the basics of performance, including warm-ups, the use of observation and experience, the elements of pantomime, and the principles of improvisation. Projects in this unit will help students learn to trust themselves and each other as performers and will introduce students to the kinds of work that underpin effective performances.

Theatre and You: Explore the art and relevance of theatre and tap into your creativity. (Sept - Oct)
Warm Up: Learn how to relax, warm up, and get yourself in the right frame of mind-and body-as you prepare for performing. (Oct - Nov)
Observation: Learn how to use all your senses to take in the world around you and to recall your while performing. (Nov - Dec)
Pantomime: Understand the major elements of traditional pantomime performance, and create a simple pantomime. (Dec)
Improvisation: Learn about improvisation and how to work with other actors, and then work with a partner to create an improvisation. (Dec - Jan)
