Emotions are powerful: they can either overwhelm you, or become your best friend. Take your students on a journey to understand how they can manage their powerful emotions through mindfulness. This set of activities was created in partnership with Yale University's Center for Emotional Intelligence.

1) Understand our own emotions.
2) Communicate more effectively with others.
3) Set up a positive environment
4) Slow down when we need to.
5) Strengthen relationships with ourselves and others.
6) build community.
Change starts with awareness; we can’t improve what we don’t first notice. That’s why the first step in managing our emotions is learning to recognize and observe them as they happen.
Instead of letting emotions control our actions, we can take a step back and reflect. Simply naming what we’re feeling can help us create distance from strong emotions, especially when they’re negative, and begin to respond more thoughtfully.
1) Set and maintain boundaries.
2) Reflect on your feelings and needs.
3) Recognize what is and isn’t in your control.
4) Acknowledge moments of gratitude and joy.
5) Use self-care routines throughout the day.
6) Connect with others even if it is virtually.
7) Start your day on a positive note.
