Phyllis is the newly appointed Academic Intervention Service (AIS) Coordinator for District 15, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to her new role. With over two decades of dedicated service within the NYC Department of Education, Phyllis has cultivated a profound understanding of educational practices, content knowledge, and assessments.

As a former Universal Literacy Coach, she has not only received extensive training but has also actively collaborated with principals, teachers, parents, and support staff to foster the development and progress of students. Phyllis's passion for early childhood education, specifically in grades K-2, has been a driving force throughout her career. She finds immense joy in unraveling the unique ways children in this age group learn and express their understanding of the world.

Phyllis's journey in education began with aspirations of becoming a Social Worker in an adoption agency. However, her dedication to positively impact children's education led her to pursue a Master's Degree in Education. Additionally, she holds a Certificate in School Leadership from the College of St. Rose, further enhancing her leadership skills.

Having grown up in Brooklyn and received a public education herself, Phyllis has a deep connection to her community. Outside of her professional life, she is a passionate traveler, an avid baker, and cherishes quality time spent with her family, particularly her beloved granddaughter. And when the right music fills the air, you can count on Phyllis to lead a spontaneous dance party.
