A quick reminder: NYSAA opens today, Monday, March 10th, and runs through Friday, May 2nd. Please note that the District 75 end date for NYSAA is earlier this year compared to previous school years. If you have students with sporadic attendance, be sure to test those students first.
Before you begin testing, please confirm the computer(s) you'll be using. All centrally managed devices should already have the KITE Student Portal installed. If you find a centrally managed device without the KITE Student Portal, please reach out to either me or Ms. Tama Bruder for assistance.
If you're using a non-centrally managed device, ensure it has the latest version of the KITE Student Portal. If not, please update or install it here. You can find the system requirements in the Technology Specifications Manual and the installation instructions here.
As you prepare for the testing window, here are a few key steps to follow:
Download Test Tickets and TIPs: Download the test ticket and Testlet Information Page (TIP) in the Educator Portal System. IF you need support doing this you can view a helpful tutorial video titled, "Test Tickets and TIPs in the Spring Window - YE".
Use the Test Ticket: The test ticket will display the student's username and password, which you'll enter into the KITE Student Portal.
Download the TIP: Download the TIP at least a day before testing to allow time for review. Gather any necessary materials beforehand. For more information on TIPs, please refer to page 82 of the Test Administration Manual.
Important Information on Account Lock & Red Lock Screen:
Account Lock: A new feature introduced last year is account locking. If a user enters incorrect credentials multiple times, the system will prompt a password reset before locking the account. If locked out, please contact DLM support via the Educator Portal Chat feature or call (855) 277-9751.
Red Lock Screen: If the KITE Student Portal screen locks due to improper exit, always click the “close” button (not the X) when exiting the app to avoid a red lock screen. If you encounter the red lock screen, you’ll be prompted for a code. This year’s code is: $eZHK9yTWjVX. Please never share this code with students. If that doesn’t work, it’s likely because your device has an outdated version. Use the previous code BYsUFK2nmn3$ and make sure you install the latest version of the KITE Student Portal before continuing.
Roster Changes & Completion Updates:
If your class roster changes at any point, please notify me immediately.
I will send completion updates every other week, as I have done in previous years.
Testing Only on School Days:
The KITE Student Portal can only be accessed on school devices within the school building. During testing, student assessment data may only be entered into the KITE Student Portal during school hours, within the school building, on days when the student is in attendance.
The state tracks usage, so please be mindful of your actions when assessing your students.
For further guidance on testing steps, please refer to the checklist starting on page 13 of the Test Administration Manual.
Additional Notes:
Submitting writing samples in the Educator Portal is optional. After completing a writing testlet, you will enter the score into the KITE Student Portal and must retain the writing sample for one year.
Completing the teacher survey in the KITE Student Portal is optional.
As always, feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns. I'm here to help!
Have a good day,
Welcome to NYSAA!
As many of you know, each year, Alternate Assessment students are expected to participate in the New York State Alternate Assessment or NYSAA (in addition to the SAND/FAST). Alternate Assessment students in grades 3-8 must be assessed once a year based on their ages (9-14).
The 2024-2025 administration dates are March 10- May 2. There are, however, several steps that must be taken prior to these dates. So, to begin this year's NYSAA DLM administration process, each teacher must log into Educator Portal and sign the security agreement.
New Users:
Today, you should have received an email from Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM) to activate your account. Please follow the steps in the email.
Current Users:
Click the following link:
Your username is your FULL DOE email address. If you do not remember your password, you can use the forgot password link.
You should receive an email within a few minutes that will take you through the steps of how to reset your password. If you do not see the email, PLEASE check your spam or “other” folder to ensure that the email was not erroneously sent there.
Once your password is reset and you have signed on to Educator Portal, you should be prompted to sign the security agreement.
If you are not prompted, click on PROFILE on the right side of the screen. Once clicked, the tab for SECURITY AGREEMENT will appear at the top of the page.
Click this tab for the security agreement.
Once the security agreement appears, you MUST click on:
I have read this security agreement and agree to follow the standards.
Please sign the security agreement no later than Friday, November 1.
This week, you should be thinking about what computer(s) you will be using for testing. DIIT installed KITE Student Portal on all centrally managed devices in February. If you plan to use a non-centrally managed device, you should check that that device has an up-to-date KITE Student Portal and if not please update and/or install it. You can read about system requirements in the Technology Specifications Manual. You can also find the Kite Student Portal installation instructions here.
As you prepare for the NYSAA testing window to open please be reminded of the following steps in order to test your students.
1.) When the window opens, download the test ticket and Testlet Information Page (TIP). See video here titled, “Test Tickets and TIPs in the Spring Window for Year End States”.
2.) The test ticket will display the student username and password used for all testlets. You will use the student username and password in Kite Student Portal.
3.) Download the Testlet Information Page before testing a student. It is recommended to download the TIP one day and test the next. You must review the TIP and gather any necessary materials. Please review page 82 in the Test Administration Manual for more information on the TIP.
Account Locked & Red Lock Message:
This year there is a new feature called account locked. The Lock message is when users have attempted to log into Kite several times with the wrong credentials. The system warns you and suggests you reset your password before being locked out. If locked out you will need to contact DLM support either through the Chat feature in Educator Portal or by phone at (855)277-9751.
When testing a student, the KITE Student Portal screen will lock if it is not exited properly. To avoid getting the red lock screen, please click the “close” button when exiting the app NOT the X. In previous school years we were given a lock screen code in order to exit out of the red lock screen. This school year there is NO lock screen code. If you get the red lock screen, you will need to contact DLM support either through the Chat feature in Educator Portal or by phone at (855)277-9751. I will NOT be able to unlock you!
Roster Changes & Completion Updates:
In the event that your class roster changes at any point, I must be notified immediately.
I will send you completion updates every other week, as I have done in the past.
See the checklist below. Also found on page 13 of the Test Administration Manual.
Note:
*Submitting writing samples in Educator Portal is OPTIONAL. After completing a writing testlet, the teacher will enter the score into Kite Student Portal and must keep the writing sample for one year.
*Completing a teacher survey in KITE Student Portal is OPTIONAL.
