Participating in the New York State Learning Technology Grant project provided my students with an engaging and meaningful opportunity to strengthen their narrative writing skills while integrating technology in authentic ways. The focus of the project—writing about someone who made a difference in their lives—allowed students to make personal connections, which increased both motivation and interest in their work.
Throughout the project, I noticed significant growth in students’ ability to develop narratives with clear structure, descriptive details, and personal voice. The integration of technology not only supported diverse learning needs but also made the writing process more interactive and accessible.
One challenge was ensuring students focused on the quality of their writing rather than just the visual elements. Moving forward, I will include more opportunities for revision and feedback.
Overall, this project allowed students to express themselves, build confidence as writers, and develop important digital literacy skills. I look forward to continuing to incorporate similar tools and strategies in future writing instruction.
