"Porque yo no soy un artista de momento, yo soy un artista pa' siempre." (Arcangel)
When I was in the process of searching for a song to use for this project, this wasn't my first choice. As I was searching through different playlists, I stumbled upon a couple songs off the 'DATA' album produced by Puerto Rican songwriter & music producer Tainy. When I listened to the song the opening lyric stood out to me because it made me think about who I was as an artist, and in some way shape or form we're all artists in different ways of doing things we wouldn't normally considered as an 'art form'. As an artist i'm very passionate about what I do which is leaning towards photography & film. This video is a tribute to my father, and my family. They are of deep importance to me.

My passion 2024
Artist Statement
My work is about my love, my passion for soccer. I love and enjoy every part, every angle of soccer, even bad moments. I love playing soccer because it helps me in different ways, it makes me happy. Soccer completes me and makes me feel alive. Through soccer I can express everything I feel, I can be free of my emotions. I also love watching people play soccer. I enjoy seeing people finding peace in what they love and have a passion for. Soccer is like a free therapy to me whenever I feel sad or angry; I can get over it. Soccer helps get over any emotion or fake energy in a short period of time without hurting myself or anyone. Soccer means a lot to me and is like my missing piece to a perfect life.

This work was very important as this is a way I get to express and also learn more about my culture. I wanted to focus on my culture of being a panamanian and exploring how that is changing throughout time. With that change I wanted to go back to the traditions we had. With the photos and video of the dance that is shown along with the photos of the old city with the houses that the people of Panama used to and still do live in along with the traditional women's clothing. This compared to the more modernized way of living with the rebuilt houses and apartments. This is compared against the newer hotels and architecture of the town makes a new evolving feel to Panama and its culture.

My images conveys perspective through life.In my art piece I used precise manipulation to do double exposure and make my adjustments changing to opacity, hues, contrast and vibrancy throughout conducting my creation.
My first image conducts the depiction of how artwork looks to me, setting a presence of artwork that “relates” to me emotionally and physically as a being in society. I use graffiti artwork from the mind space of “the Brooklyn” aesthetic. Fundamentally representing a part of me. The eye depicts a resolution of my point of view showing the perspective of how I uncover and conduct possibilities of art. My second image also uses graffiti in its piece . This image is a sentimental piece based on my experience. It is an emblem of achieving hopes and dreams before the deadline comes. Which concludes the angle of a “ long walk” to vary the word of completion. My third image conducts a sense determination by using the perspective of light and high rise buildings to show the complexity of making a stance. The light striking through the sky shows the symbolism of good coming through the darkness. Which shows why I had made the image black and white.

These four pieces of mixed media art were created with the intention of showing off the importance of photography in our modern day and age. My favorite photo of the quartet shows my friend Maurice hitting a pose where he leaned his head and covered his mouth with his hand. This photo already shows the viewer that he is a bit of a goofy guy mostly due to his grin. However I went over this in photoshop, letting the viewer also see how I see him in a Halloween theme as it’s my favorite holiday because I was born the day before it. At first I was going to make him a clown because he acts like one all the time but I later changed my mind and chose to make him look like beetle juice instead as from the information I know about him he fits Maurice well. I made his yellow as I always found it as one of the uncanny eye colors but unlike red it’s not over used so it felt more unique. I put 3 graves and a ghost next to him in the background to put a not blatant but obvious implication and a tree with 2 mouths as I just found it cool. This photo now does't just show a tad bit of Moe’s personally but how the artist views him something it made sure to continue with my other photos but not to the same extent.

These five pieces of art represent my deceased grandmother and aunt I miss them dearly, and I always look up and I see them In the clouds in heaven looking for me. It is hard for me sometimes. When I look at these pictures, I know that my family is with me forever and they will always love me, even if I can’t see them. They’ll always be there in the clouds watching me grow up into the young woman I am today. Thank you grandmother and aunt and mom.
