District 20 envisions a vibrant community where every student has full access to rigorous, real-world learning that amplifies student voice and prepares all learners for success beyond the classroom. We are committed to a future where students, families, and educators work together to eliminate barriers and ensure that opportunity and excellence are within reach for every child.
Our mission is to serve and support every student, family, and educator by fostering a welcoming and collaborative environment. We empower all members of our community to become lifelong learners through access to high-quality instruction and unified curriculum experiences that celebrate student growth across academics, the arts, STEM, and civic engagement. Together, we ensure that every individual is seen, heard, and valued—and that All Means All.
New York City’s new Public Schools Chancellor Kamar Samuels is only weeks into the job, but he is on a mission to visit all 45 public school districts across the city, in his first 60 days.
At each stop, he’s meeting with students, parents, teachers and elected officials to learn more about their priorities.
District 20's annual middle school fair brought together families in person to help rising 5th graders navigate the NYC admissions process face-to-face. Held directly in the community, the fair served as a bustling, one-stop venue where parents and students walked table to table to meet school leaders, talk directly with representatives, and explore diverse academic offerings like STEM, dual language, and arts programs. Designed to serve the district's diverse population, on-site multi-language staff and translated resources ensured all families received personalized, hands-on guidance to help them build a balanced application ahead of the fall deadlines.
During NYC Public Schools' inaugural Math Week, schools across District 20 brought mathematics to life. Students engaged in daily real-world challenges while diving into hands-on STEM activities and collaborative problem-solving tied to the NYC Solves initiative. Families joined the excitement using NYCPS Math Fluency Guides to tackle daily "Problems of the Day" together, strengthening the connection between classroom learning and everyday family life.
On October 2nd, PS112 celebrated more than a decade of Italian language and cultural heritage education with student performances, guest speakers, and a visit from La Fata Italiana!
Hola! Hispanic Heritage celebrations are in full swing at The SEEALL Academy where we believe "Todo significa todo!"
At 20K185, our Parent Learning Partners play an active role in the school community, working alongside students to learn, grow, and build meaningful connections. Their presence helps create a positive, supportive environment where everyone thrives together.
A neighborhood tradition since 1967, this joyful autumn event brings together thousands of children, families, and local marching bands for a vibrant display of creativity and community spirit. Kids in costumed wonder march down 3rd Avenue, filling the neighborhood with color, music, and seasonal cheer. Come celebrate one of Brooklyn's favorite family traditions!

Our students' exemplary artwork was selected to be featured in P.S. Art in Times Square, a digital public art showcase celebrating the creativity of New York City public school students.
Seeing their artwork displayed on the iconic Times Square jumbotron was an unforgettable experience and a proud moment for our students, their families, and our school community. 😊

We believe that youth sports lay a strong foundation for a child’s future, fostering healthy habits that last a lifetime. Much like early investments that grow over time, starting young in fitness and athletics yields long-term benefits for physical, mental, and emotional well-being. We also recognize that competition offers invaluable life lessons, teaching self-discipline, emotional resilience, and the skills to become thoughtful, engaged citizens. Finally, our league serves as a cornerstone for building community within our district. It provides a convenient and meaningful opportunity for kids to participate, grow, and thrive in a supportive and connected environment.
