District 20 envisions a vibrant community where every student has full access to rigorous, real-world learning that amplifies student voice and prepares all learners for success beyond the classroom. We are committed to a future where students, families, and educators work together to eliminate barriers and ensure that opportunity and excellence are within reach for every child.
Our mission is to serve and support every student, family, and educator by fostering a welcoming and collaborative environment. We empower all members of our community to become lifelong learners through access to high-quality instruction and unified curriculum experiences that celebrate student growth across academics, the arts, STEM, and civic engagement. Together, we ensure that every individual is seen, heard, and valued—and that All Means All.
New York City’s new Public Schools Chancellor Kamar Samuels is only weeks into the job, but he is on a mission to visit all 45 public school districts across the city, in his first 60 days.
At each stop, he’s meeting with students, parents, teachers and elected officials to learn more about their priorities.
We believe that youth sports lay a strong foundation for a child’s future, fostering healthy habits that last a lifetime. Much like early investments that grow over time, starting young in fitness and athletics yields long-term benefits for physical, mental, and emotional well-being. We also recognize that competition offers invaluable life lessons, teaching self-discipline, emotional resilience, and the skills to become thoughtful, engaged citizens. Finally, our league serves as a cornerstone for building community within our district. It provides a convenient and meaningful opportunity for kids to participate, grow, and thrive in a supportive and connected environment.
Respect for All (RFA) program has helped City schools across the five boroughs to foster and maintain safe learning environments that are supportive, inclusive, and free from discrimination, harassment, and intimidation of any kind. Every day, over a million young New Yorkers walk into schools where respect for one another is daily practice, and safety is essential.

Thank everyone for helping make Tuesday’s Middle School All-Star Game at the Barclays Center such a special event. It was truly a memorable day, and I’m proud of the culture we are continuing to build around athletics in our district. Events like this create opportunities for school pride, foster an energetic and engaging learning environment, allow student leaders to thrive and build skills, and help associate joy and community with learning.
I’m also happy to share photos HERE and a video HERE from the event. A special thank you to Hector Uribe for capturing the day and creating these links for us. Please feel free to download and share the images you’d like.
With that event, we have officially concluded our Fall Athletics season. Congratulations to MS 201 for being our Middle School Basketball Champions and to Ditmas for winning the Middle School Ultimate Frisbee Championship
