Early Commitment allows schools in select districts to connect with and secure candidates in high-need certification and subject areas before budgets are released in June. Schools participating in Early Commitment have access to events and candidate lists prior to the rest of the city.
As part of the initiative, a commitment is made between a school and a candidate early in the hiring season, which secures the candidate pre-budget and allows the school to have more time to focus on onboarding and curriculum development throughout the summer.
Eligible schools: All Bronx (Districts 7-12), Brooklyn North (Districts 16, 19, 23, 32) , Brooklyn South (District 17), Queens South (District 27), District 75 (Citywide), ACCESS schools in the geo districts listed, and NEW! Select special education early childhood expansion sites.
Candidates from traditional teacher certification pathways making an Early Commitment by June 16 are eligible to receive a $1,000 signing stipend.
Prioritize staffing in bilingual education, bilingual special education, English as a New Language, and world languages while the pool is more robust, and candidates are eligible for the stipend.
