Instruction is relevant, standards-based, and assessment-driven. Teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers collaborate to support students in their learning activities. Instruction is seamless reflects purposeful learning, and fosters student engagement in appropriately challenging tasks. Classroom management facilitates student learning by providing well-established rituals and routines, making optimum use of time, and incorporating multiple measures of student performance.

Core Beliefs

All students can learn if we, the educators, strategically create the optimal setting based on our knowledge of our students' cognitive abilities, forge a culture of respect, hold high expectations for all students, involve parents and the community, and challenge the status quo.

The instructional shifts guide educators to enhance instruction by focusing on close reading of the informational text, stressing higher-order thinking, and developing deep understanding across the curriculum. As they work towards college and career readiness, students must have the opportunity to engage in rigorous thought through collaboration, analysis, and synthesis.
