What is the TOP program?
A NYCDOE paid work experience internship for high school students (preferably juniors and seniors) with IEP’s to develop job skills, work attitudes and practical employment experience.
Student Responsibilities
Complete TOP application, submit all required documents (social security card, I-9 form, parent consent forms, and letter of recommendation
Attend a meeting with the Transition Team Leader where we will review professional attire, how to ask for a letter of recommendation, how to interview, developing job skills, handshake, eye contact, maintaining a professional attitude and appearance, time and attendance.
Communicate with Transition Team Leader and host site supervisor
Maintain an accurate log (to be noted in a journal) of internship activities, experiences, evaluations and hours
Submit TOP Intern Timesheet
At the end of the internship, student must meet with the host supervisor for final evaluation and meet with TLL to discuss the outcome
Appreciate and respect diversity in all forms

Teacher-Letter of Recommendation
Signed Social Security card (copy)
Birth Certificate (copy)
