Métis Nation of Ontario Bursary and Scholarship Program
Métis students can apply for the Métis Student Bursary Program (MSBP) at the Financial Aid Office, Aboriginal Student Liaison Centre or through Student Support Services at the participating college or university. Bursary applications are available to students following registration in the fall. Deadlines are school specific and bursary recipients are announced in the winter. Students may reapply for bursaries and/or scholarships each year when they register for school. The amount of bursaries will vary depending on the accumulation of interest each year.

Ontario First Nations Technical Services Operation
The Ontario First Nation Technical Services Corporation (OFNTSC) awards four $1000 scholarships to First Nations students across the province in science, technology fields, and one $2,000 award for a First Nation student in engineering.

NSERC Indigenous Student Ambassadors Award
The NSERC Indigenous Student Ambassadors (NISA) grant aims to engage Indigenous students and fellows in promoting interest and participation in the natural sciences and engineering (NSE) by visiting Indigenous communities and schools in Canada. Ambassadors could share their research and education experiences at an information booth at a community event or Powwow, or they could deliver hands-on science promotion activities at a workshop for youth in the community, among other possibilities.

Deadline - There are no fixed deadlines for this award. Applications must be made at least two months before the start of a proposed outreach activity. The awards available in a given year will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

ONECA Four Directions Scholarship
The Ontario Native Education Counselling Association (ONECA) will award four scholarships annually to graduating Indigenous (Status, Non-status, Métis and Inuit) high school students.

RBC Indigenous Student Awards Program
The RBC Indigenous Student Awards Program aims to assist Indigenous students to complete post-secondary education and provide an opportunity for RBC® to strengthen its relationship with the Indigenous community.
Value - Selected students are awarded up to $4000 each academic year for two to four years to use towards tuition, textbooks, supplies and living expenses.

National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation Scholarships
Malcolm and Catherine Dewar established a fund at the University of Manitoba to reward the academic achievements of graduate students pursuing research in the area of Truth and Reconciliation in the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the University of Manitoba. Each year, beginning in 2020-2021 and continuing until funds are depleted, one scholarship of $8,000 will be offered to a graduate student.

The Shannen’s Dream Scholarship is a $2500 award to assist First Nations youth with post-secondary education costs (university, college, trades). As a “pay-it-forward” scholarship, winners must make a fair and measurable contribution to the Shannen’s Dream campaign or related First Nations initiative as a condition of receiving the award. The Shannen’s Dream Scholarship is made possible by a generous donation from the Collure family from Richmond Hill, Ontario.

TransAlta Indigenous Student Bursary
Seven (7) bursaries for Indigenous students attending post-secondary institutions – college or university. Three (3) bursaries for students training in the trades – technical college or apprenticeship program.

2019 marked the first year for the Spirit Bear Award. Named in honour of Spirit Bear, this award goes to a group of young people who demonstrate their commitment to reconciliation and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action. This year, two awards of $500 will be given to groups of young people to use as they would like toward their activities or simply to celebrate!
