What Diwali means?
Festival of Lights
Diwali is the five-day Festival of Lights, celebrated by millions of Hindus, Sikhs and Jains across the world. ... The word Diwali comes from the Sanskrit word deepavali, meaning "rows of lighted lamps". Houses, shops and public places are decorated with small oil lamps called diyas.
I was able to have a great discussion about Diwali with Mrs. Sweeney's class today. They were hard at work making some wonderful Rangoli Art pieces.
The rangoli represents the happiness, positivity and liveliness of a household, and is intended to welcome Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and good luck.
Mental Health issues affect 1 in 5 Canadians. We are all in this together and all of your teachers are happy to have a chat or listen. How are you feeling? Please take some time to talk to somebody about how you are feeling and make sure you ask how they are doing too. Make time to find some balance in your life. Go for a walk, listen to some music, colour, draw, do some yoga, play outside or do whatever it is that makes you happy. There are a collection of stories below about kindness and understanding that you may enjoy. You are all amazing people! If you need a chat email me at: jlightfootferrier@scdsb.on.ca Thanks, Mr. Lightfoot

This week we have been enjoying the beautiful fall weather and reading a story outside. We have had a lot of fun making leaf creatures of our own. It's a great activity to try at home.
I have added some new interactive choice board activities on different subject areas. They can be found on the Going Beyond page and in other areas of this site. Give them a try!
