🌮🌮🌮 Taco Thursday 🌮🌮🌮
🌮🎉 Today’s classroom blog is where math meets munchies! This week, we turned our decimal lesson into a Taco Thursday fiesta! Because really, what’s better than a tasty treat to kickstart a hunger for knowledge?
Our students jumped headfirst into the decimal deliciousness, mastering the arts of adding, subtracting, and multiplying while pretending to be taco tycoons. The recipe was simple but oh-so-tasty: each kiddo whipped up their own taco menu, pricing ingredients to sharpen those decimal chops.
This hands-on taco-tastic approach not only made decimals easier to swallow but also sparked a fiery interest in math through the universal love for tacos. By blending math with a fun, familiar twist, students dove deeper into the material and beefed up their decimal skills. We can’t wait to see what tasty learning escapades are on the menu next! 🙌🌮📚
🏃♂️🏃♀️🎉 Fun Run Success! 🎉🏃♀️🏃♂️
What an amazing day at our school’s Fun Run! We came together as a community to raise money and show our support for our school. Each of us ran 36 laps around the gym, and it was a blast! 🏅
With every lap, our t-shirts became more colorful, marking our progress and dedication. From the first lap to the last, the energy and enthusiasm were incredible. 🌈👕
Thank you to everyone who participated, cheered us on, and donated. Your support makes a world of difference. Let’s keep this spirit alive and continue to run towards a brighter future for our school! 🏫❤️
Thank you APEX!

Today, my second grade class hosted a Market Day where they produced goods and services and had to sell them to consumers (parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles etc. that were invited to attend.) My students are incredibly creative. They sold the best items and if I had to spend real money today instead of classroom cash, I'd be broke.
Students will use their understanding of supply and demand to host another Market Day tomorrow. These kids have a lot of work tonight, but I know they will rise to the challenge.

Students spent their morning reading books about hearts, love, and friendship. They used the story and illustrations to sort sentences into sequential order.
Reading these stories was so much fun that students spent their recess reading through different books that they did not have time for during their lesson.
Our afternoon was spent handing out Valentine cards, stacking cups, and tossing marshmallows.
Measurement Olympics is always one of my favorite lessons! Students compete in many different categories such as high jump, long jump, archery, bad mitten, and discus. They use inches and centimeters to determine the length of their jump, toss, and throw.
How to Catch an Elf... Make a huge mess and explain to the custodian that the elf made me do it! We had a crazy Classroom Surveillance Elf this December. Chippie Bandit loved playing pranks on my second grade students. He claimed that the elf that watched over our classroom last year wasn't letting him fly back to our classroom. We had to research elf traps and design some of our own. Do not worry! We caught Chippie Bandit and he let us know that it was a prank the entire time! Can you believe that little trickster?! We had some other fun events in our classroom. We held an Ugly Sweater Party. I absolutely love any event that encourages students to dress up, but ugly sweaters are my favorite!! Beacause of the ugly sweaters, we had the best Party before break 😍😘 Candyland, gingerbread houses, and gifts! What a way to end the year 😁 HUGE thank you to @eckertfarms for the adorable and super easy gingerbread house kits!!
This week students have been learning how to 'Count Up On The Number Line' to find the difference to subtraction sentences. Today they used their strategy to build delicious pizzas. Students worked together with their lemon/lime partners to find the differences to each subtraction sentence pizza slice.
No one out pizzas Liszewski's Leaders!
HUGE shoutout to the Pizza Hut in Carlyle for donating all the fun props!! The second graders were a little upset there wasn't actually pizza inside. :)
This week we worked on our expanded form subtraction strategy. Students used Halloween inspired manipulatives to demonstrate when they regrouped. This week we also learned about Dia De Los Muertos. This is a Mexican holiday where they celebrate those who have passed on. This is a 3 day celebration with friends and family. We created a few art projects that taught students what is important during this celebration. We ended the week by watching "Coco". In writing, students have started learning about informational writing. Students are excited to learn more about a specific topic. It is their goal to become an expert!
