MLA CITATIONS

Across our middle schools and high schools, we use a citation style to give credit to sources used in student work called the Modern Language Association (MLA).

The MLA has developed a style guide for academic writing where students will learn to cite source materials such as reading passages, images, videos, and interviews.

If a writer fails to give proper credit to a source, they have committed plagiarism.  This means they have copied someone else's work without their permission.

The links on this page will help you learn more about MLA citations and how to create and use them in your writing so that you can avoid plagiarising someone else's work.

To learn more about the consequences of plagiarising check out the section titled "Academic Honesty & Integrity" in your planner on page 14.
