Exposure
(Science Seminars)
You need at least FOUR science seminars (EXPOSURE)
Remember to fill out the form at the bottom of this page after you attend a seminar!
Ideas for "EXPOSURE" :
-Attend Girls Engineer it Day Sat, Feb 10: https://sceswe.swe.org/events/girls-engineer-it-day/
-Attend Green Club Guest Speaker Series
-Attend Online LIVE Seminars
-Attend Research Presentations from other SNHS members
-Attend local University Seminars (with University approval - SNHS advisor (Sheffield) can help with this)
(Make sure to follow these rules when attending a seminar)
Students are expected to participate with respect and proper etiquette during participation of each science seminar:
Arriving on time for seminars.
Introducing yourself, Greeting presenters and participants (networking),
No food. No open drinks (closed water bottles are appropriate, no open soda cans or cups).
Staying until the end of the seminar. The question and answer period is part of the seminar, even when the speaker goes over time. Conflicts, such as class and extracurricular commitments that start right after the scheduled period for the seminar, need to be brought to the presenter’s attention ahead of time.
Paying attention to the talks.
Unacceptable behaviors include:
Using your electronic device (computer, phone, tablet), except for taking notes, provided it doesn’t disturb others around you.
Reading papers, working on homework, or other materials.
Talking (except to ask questions or to make brief comments about the material being presented)
Any student observed engaging in these behaviors will be counted as absent for that seminar.
