Executive Functioning Skills

WE ALL NEED THEM!

Executive function is a term used to describe a set of cognitive skills we use to successfully manage everyday life. We rely on them to learn, achieve goals, manage emotions, pay attention, organize, plan, and adapt to our environment.

Executive function can be broken down into three broad areas:

  • Working memory: the ability to retain and use new information.

  • Mental flexibility: the ability to adjust our way of thinking in order to adapt to various situations, demands, or perspectives.

  • Self-Control: the ability to ignore distractions or temptations in order to accomplish a task or goal. The ability to think before acting.

Stay in Contact With Your Child's Teacher

Attendance is taken daily and we need excuses for days missed (Doctor notes or parent excuses). Please let the teacher know if your child is experiencing COVID related symptoms or is waiting on a COVID test. You can contact your teacher by phone, email, or classdojo.

We are here to help! Please contact one of the School Counselors if you or your student needs additional support.
