Happy Halloween!
Interns had a fun day at work! Members of the YMCA enjoyed coming in for some halloween fun and excitement!
Transit Training Day with Sarnia Transit!
A huge thank-you to Sarah and Deb from Sarnia Transit for helping us learn about the bus system today. It can be overwhelming trying to learn about all of the different procedures and routes to take, so it was awesome having some help from our friends at Sarnia Transit! They even provided a helpful video ahead of time to prepare us for the day ahead. Thank-you Sarah and Deb!😀
Fitness Fun with Kathy!
Interns had the privilage of working with Kathy Mauger, a fitness trainer at the YMCA, today! One of the many benefits of being an intern at the YMCA is that you get a free membership for the year. Our interns are taking a serious interest in working out and are realizing the huge benefits that come with taking care of yourself physically. Thank you to Kathy Mauger for helping us learn about all of the different weight machienes and different excercises we can do to get started on our fitness journey!
Truth and Reconciliation Day
Project SEARCH interns participated in an online painting and storytelling class with Moses Lunham from Kettle and Stony Point First Nations. They also wore orange shirts with their fellow YMCA staff members to show honor and support for our First Nations community.
Tie Dye Fun!
We are getting ready for Autism Awareness Day on Wednesday, April 2nd.
Everyone is encouraged to wear bright colored shirts or tie-dye on Wednesday, April 2nd. Tie Dye represents all of the beautiful differences that make us unique and special. Let's recognize that everyone is different in their own special way. I can't wait to see all of the bright shirts on Wednesday!
Beach Day Fun! We had a fantastic time planning and participating in a fun Beach Themed Day at the YMCA! Staff and Members put on their beach clothes, played some volleyball, danced in a Rumba class, and had some juice by the "beach". Good times were had by all. We love working at the YMCA! 😁
The Project Search Interns, along with mentors Nick and Billy, participated in the Remembrance Day Ceremony. Intern, Noah, created a very special painting for Remembrance Day which will be displayed in the lobby at the YMCA.
On Wednesday, October 30th Interns, mentors and YMCA staff and volunteers participated in a Halloween Pumpkin Painting Party. The group had fun getting to know one another, painting, eating treats and playing scattergories.
On September 25, 2024 The staff at Sarnia Transit provided bus training to the interns in Project Search. The interns learned more about how to access transportation, boarding and disembarking the bus and general bus safety.
