Q: I need testing accommodations for the AP exams. How do I apply for these?
If you have an SSD # you will use that number. If you do not have an SSD # then please talk with your current special education teacher to apply for a number. ACCOMMODATIONS MUST BE IN PLACE BY January 17 to qualify for the May exams. Need more information? click here for testing with accommodations.
If you have already been approved to test with accommodations from the College Board, you will receive an email in mid-March from the AP Coordinator to confirm your plan to use them.
Note: Students who take online exams with accommodations cannot end the clock early, even if the test has been completed.
Q: How much do exams cost?
AP exams are $105.00 per exam, when registering during College Board's registration window. College Board adds a $40 fee per exam for exams added after their registration window closes. Note: for spring semester classes only college board allows for a late registration without incurring any additional fees.

Q: If I am taking an AP course must I take the exam?
No, you do not need to take the exam.
Q: I cannot afford an AP exam; are there scholarships?
SCAHS Students who receive free or reduced lunches qualify for a reduced fee of zero to $25 per exam. Students who qualify must complete this form no later than Nov 1, 2024 to be eligible for any reduced fees.
Q: What if I can't take the exam on the day it's offered?
Any student who has two exams scheduled at the same time will be contacted to arrange for the late-testing option.
Beyond a direct test conflict, make-ups are not typically available due to the difficulty of securing proctors and rooms during testing season. If you require a late test for some reason, please reach out to the AP Coordinator to put in your request. If a late test administration becomes available, you will be contacted during the second week of regular exams.
Q: How do I know if the college I am attending will accept AP credit?
You can go directly to the college's website. Check out the credits from Penn State
Q: May I take an AP exam if I am not enrolled in an AP course?
It is possible, presuming we can secure a proctor and a test space. Contact the AP Coordinator to request a join code for an exam-only section.
Q: I no longer plan to take an AP exam I registered for. What do I do?
Prior to May 1, 2024 Contact Michele Rowland to request a refund. After May 1, no drop requests will be processed.
College Board charges $40 to drop any exam after Nov. 15.
Community Ed charges a $15 processing fee for any reimbursements.
