It was a sunny day. Mommy said to me, “Let’s go for a kayak ride!” So we went out to Heligo.
The water was sparkling in the sun. I sat in the front of my mommy in the kayak.
As we got close to the water lilies and lily pads, the water got shallow. I was reaching out for lily pads and water lilies. I put the lily pad on the kayak. The kayak was red, the lily pads were green, the water lilies were yellow.
Soon after all the branches and trial and error we got to the beaver dam. We tried to get past the dam but we couldn’t.
So we went back to the trial and error. We went back to the beach. I was very happy to be home. I helped my mommy park the kayak and I said, “I love you!’
"Kayaking to Heligo" by Walter Shapiro

I belong at Fourth Lake. This is where we have our summer house. Sometimes I go kayaking with my mommy and daddy on the lake. The lake is so beautiful and I swim in it every summer with my friends and family. We kayak to Heligo and we see a beaver dam there. The beavers belong there too! It feels good to have a place that I go every year and I'll probably go there for my whole life.
