We had an understanding of how students at Rutgers University are not fully aware of their resources, but we researched statistics on what kind of a college experience students have nationwide. We found out that 40.6% of transgender college students have a lifetime diagnosis of mental illness, as opposed to 9.5% of cisgender students. We also found out that 40.2% of transgender students at universities feel isolated from campus life, as opposed to 24.1% of cisgender students. We feel like it is our goal to reach out to students who feel isolated and give them a better understanding of the resources that are available on campus for them to feel more positive. Sexual violence is more prevalent at colleges, compared to other crimes. There is 2 sexual assaults on women in college for every 1 robbery that takes place. Women, the LGBTQ community, and people of color often have a number of social groups on university campuses, but without much knowledge of these organizations, students can easily think they are alone or find themselves missing out on potential connections. We noticed that companies rarely invest in pointing students in the appropriate direction of all the available resources on their campuses. Clubs and organizations are always searching for new ways to reach out to their entire student body, but usually are limited to their own social media following. Rutgers University features events around campus on the Rutgers app, but it doesn't particularly display events hosted by specific clubs or groups on campus. We wanted to come up with a solution on how we can directly give students access to these campus organizations with ease.
