Let's Keep the Learning Going!
Who would benefit from a Summer Bridge Program?
Students who need additional support to be prepared for the next school year due to learning losses during comprehensive distance learning. This program is ideal for students who would benefit from literacy support, math support, or social-emotional support. It is an opportunity for middle and high school learners who earned D’s/F’s, to recoup skills and/or credits. Lastly, it supports those students who had limited internet access or engagement in Comprehensive Distance Learning or the Hybrid Model this year.
Purpose of the Bridge Program
To develop skills and strategies, adding new content as appropriate, will be essential to set the student up for success for the next year.
To bolster academic stamina and increase confidence as we head into the 2021-2022 school year.
To provide a bridge between last year’s academic content and next year's expectations.

Scappoose recognizes that transitioning to a new school can be a HUGE adjustment for students. In order to support students through that transition, we have created a summer transition program entitled Jumpstart. The Jumpstart Summer Transition Program is a fun-filled week designed to introduce your student to their new building and the ins and outs of school life in a smaller group setting.
Who Should Participate?
Programs will be at the following transitional levels:
Kindercamp - students transitioning into Kindergarten; locations: Grant Watts and Warren Elementary Schools
Kindergarten to 1st grade; locations: Grant Watts and Warren Elementary Schools
3rd grade to 4th-grade; location: Otto Petersen Elementary School
6th grade to 7th-grade; location: Scappoose Middle School
8th grade to 9th-grade; location Scappoose High School
The Jumpstart experience allows students opportunities to refresh their academic skills and learn the school readiness skills essential to better transition themselves to their new grade and/or building. The program carefully blends the following curriculum areas: literacy and math strategies, study skills and organization, advocacy and self-help skills, making friends and problem solving, and “Safe, Respectful, Responsible, and Kind. In addition to this, participants will learn school-wide expectations and procedures, e.g. learning the campus, technology resources, and faces around the building. Students will be provided breakfast and lunch each day. At the end of most experiences there will be a culminating event to celebrate the effort of all of the student participants.
