Elementary Teacher-Librarian
Mrs. Nudo is our Certified Teacher-Librarian for our Elementary Schools. Each week, each elementary student gets a library lesson designed by Mrs. Nudo in their school and book check out time.
All Elementary schools have Book Return Bins in the school hallways and it is recommended that students return their library books the day BEFORE their library class to ensure they are returned in the system before coming to the library. Mrs. Nudo supports Mrs. Knutson at the OPE Library with weekly lessons delivered by Mrs. Knutson (and Mr. Wilkins/one 6th grade class/Wednesday), Grant Watts library on Tuesday-Thursday, and Warren on Mondays. Warren Preschool and Kindergarten students do not use the book return bins.
Students in grades 1-3 are allowed to take home 2 books at a time and grades 4-6 are allowed 3 books at a time. We do not charge daily overdue fees; however, we do expect families to return books on time and replace books that are lost or damaged.
Please watch the district newsletter for specific library news for your building. You can access the SSD Library Weekly Newsletter through a link provided in your building newsletter or a direct link from the district newsletter. Please reach out to Mrs. Nudo with any questions at the contact info below.
Library Support for Secondary Students
Mrs. Nudo works collaboratively with the administrators at our Secondary schools to support the library operations in these settings. She supports in the Secondary schools and focuses on her District Librarian responsibilities on a flexible schedule throughout the week.
Supporting a Culture of Literacy district-wide is the mission of our libraries; so we are grateful to have Mrs. Gayman supporting the students and collection development at the Middle School and Mrs. McNabb supporting our High School students and staff.
As a district we are collectively proud of the recent investments we have made in all our school libraries and are excited to offer students the opportunity to find the joy of reading in all our buildings.
Happy reading everyone!
