Our SSD Elementary schools have benefited greatly from the generosity of the Scappoose community this year! The Fall and Spring Book Fairs have put 100s of new books directly on the shelves of Otto Petersen, Grant Watts and Warren Elementary! This support helps to update, replace and grow our school collections--we are SO grateful! THANK YOU!
2023 ~What a Year!
I am so proud of all the amazing things we accomplished in 2022-2023! Here are a few highlights:
Complete renovation of the High School library space, including two brand new computer labs with GALE technologies to support college and career readiness.
Full integration of all Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde recommended reading lists for each school and reading materials that directly support Tribal Curriculum at the elementary level.
Successful Scholastic Book Fairs at all 3 elementary schools that helped to add several hundred books to each library.
Secured 2 grants to support Inquiry Projects through new nonfiction that aligns with our new reading curriculum at the elementary level.
Weekly library lessons for grades PreK-6 that encompass research, media literacy, digital citizenship, library management, reading fluency and social/emotional learning as well as new technologies that engage learners in these lessons. We also offer pre-school story time at Grant Watts.
Increased circulation in EVERY elementary library--Warren Elementary grew by over 50%!
Worked collaboratively with a neighboring district, First Book, American Federation of Teachers-Oregon Chapter and our local classified employees union to send home a new, high-quality FREE book for every student in the district for the summer.

Meet Mrs. Nudo
Hello! I am so happy to be your Scappoose School District Librarian serving all 5 of our school libraries! We accomplished some great things in our first year and we had a lot of fun in the library. I can't wait to continue reading, growing, and learning with all of you throughout this school year!
This is my 8th year in Scappoose and I am over the moon excited that I get to share my passion for children's literature with all of you. For over 30 years I have been reading a variety of stories to students from my own extensive classroom library because books help kids make real-world connections and stories empower children (no matter how young or old they are) to become creative and critical thinkers. My fellow teachers and classroom parents know that I can help them find the perfect book for any situation or subject they are teaching, because I know and LOVE books! I am truly honored I get to be included in this incredibly important part of our students' literacy experience! And, I am thrilled that I will get to do this EVERY day in the district I love so much--I am very lucky!
When not in the library, I love to spend my time with my husband Mario, our cats Dewey & Smoky, and our dog Princess at our little farm with chickens on Sauvie Island. We love to garden, cycle around the island, fish from the bank, paddle board/kayak, hike/explore and, yes, sit on the beach by the river and enjoy a great book!
