A team of about 30 pupils meet every Tuesday afternoon to represent various countries and debate global issues like: the conflict in Syria, women's rights in Pakistan and poverty in Africa. Before you know it, you might represent North Korea and argue why it is a great idea to develop nuclear weapons! MUN, short for Model United Nations, will develop all your English skills as well as your general knowledge about past and current global issues. You will also become a stronger debater and meet new friends from 4, 5 and 6 (t)vwo.
Every year we attend a number of MUN conferences in The Netherlands and abroad, spread over the school year, to engage in debates (and have fun) with pupils from around the world. Last year for instance we participated in MUNelly in a regular foreign exchange with our German partner school in Germany, CoMUN in Gouda, and Haileybury in the UK. In the past we were also frequent participants in LEMUN in Leiden, MUNA in Zoetermeer, and KARMUN in Hungary. We have also taken part in MUNESCO in Turkey. Besides the regular MUN meetings on Tuesday afternoons you will participate in at least one official conference. This year we will also organize our own MUN conference for the tenth year running: ScalaMUN 2024 . ScalaMUN is organized by a very dedicated group of our own pupils. Make sure you do not miss out on that! In Short: MUN is interesting, fun and educational. and good for your CV too!
