Whenever possible, parents/guardians are requested to administer medications at home. If it is necessary to administer medication during school hours, a "Physician's Authorization for Medication During School Hours" form must be completed by the physician and signed by the parent/guardian before any medication can be administered in school. Students in possession of any medication including over-the-counter medication will be considered to be in violation of the District's drug and alcohol policy and will be subject to the disciplinary action as set forth therein. With proper documentation, students may carry epinephrine auto-injectors and asthma inhalers.
Medication must be in an original, labeled container.
Parents/Guardians are required to bring all medication to school.
Medications are kept in a designated, locked area in the nurse's office.
The nurse may refuse to administer any type of medication based on nursing judgment. The parent/guardian will be notified of this action should it occur.
Parents/Guardians are responsible for informing the school nurse of any change in the health or medication of students.
The District will incur NO liability for the use of unauthorized drugs or medications.
