7. Publish!

Learning Target (SL 7.4): Present claims and findings, emphasizing salient points in a focused, coherent manner with pertinent descriptions, facts, details, and examples; use appropriate eye contact, adequate volume, and clear pronunciation.

Publish your argument by converting it into speech form. Write your main points on index cards to guide you as you give your speech. Do not read the entire speech. Instead, talk to your audience in a natural way.

Write your notes in bullet points. Include the following information:

INTRO

  • Hook or attention-grabbing beginning
  • Your claim

BODY

  • Most important reason with evidence
  • The counterargument and what you say to it

CONCLUSION

  • A call to action or statement about why this is important to you as an individual, to our school, our community, or the world
