Students are introduced to drawing, design and sculpture, and complete a series of short projects emphasizing the elements in art: line, form, space, texture, value and color, using a variety of materials. Alternate semester students take health.Â

🔹 Visual Art (7th & 8th Grade)
Instruction is based on the understanding and use of the elements and principles of design to create finished products that reflect creative problem-solving, visual literacy, and personal expression. Materials include graphite, colored pencil, pen and ink, wood, cardboard, wire, clay, tempera, watercolor, acrylic paint, and more. Along with projects, there will be the introduction of various artists and art movements from cultures around the world to help students understand the history and intention of making art to tell stories, express ideas, and to create beautiful and meaningful artworks.Â
🔺 Exploration to Sculpture and 3D Art (7th Grade)
Students are introduced to 3-dimensional art making and sculptural techniques. Students complete a series of projects emphasizing the elements in art: line, form, space, texture, value, and color, using a variety of materials including mixed media, cardboard, wood, clay, papier-mâché, wire, sheet metal, glass, earth art, found objects and other materials.Â

🔹 Sculpture & 3D Art (7th & 8th Grade)
In this course students learn about and create artwork that is three-dimensional. This course is designed for beginning students with no background in sculpture and students with previous experience in the arts. Students will develop a variety of fine motor skills through a series of projects, problems, and assignments. Hands-on experience will be gained through the use of materials such as mixed media, cardboard, wood, clay, papier-mâché, wire, sheet metal, glass, earth art, found objects and other materials. Construction methods include addition and subtraction, assemblage, modeling, fabrication and other methods. Students will learn how to use the vocabulary of art with an emphasis on elements of art and principles of design. Students will be introduced to work from artists around the world in a current, historical and cultural context.Â
