While some children might be open to expressing their disappointment about missed events, other children may not. By using a feelings chart, the child can support their understanding of their emotions and feelings. This chart can help the child explicitly name what else they are feeling, aside from "disappointment." Sometimes, by naming the feelings, the power those feelings have over your child (and your household) might dissipate. This can help children and their families express and verbalize their emotions, to support themselves in this complicated time. It is essential to let your children know that feeling any combination of these emotions is understandable, even if it's a "roller coaster" of emotions throughout a single day. All of that is ok!!
