SB Reads 2024

South Brunswick Reads for Belonging!

SB Reads is an annual partnership between the South Brunswick School District and the South Brunswick Public Library, and this highly anticipated program always provides unique opportunities for everyone in the district.

The ability to adapt to a variety of social situations, to show empathy, gratitude, and care for others, is at the heart of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) in South Brunswick schools.  We show social awareness through mutual respect when our viewpoints differ.  Reading expands our awareness as we visit new places, try on different perspectives, and learn to better understand our community.

To instill social awareness takes a village: schools, families, and our community working together.  Reading as a town can increase our awareness and understanding.  With these principles in mind, the theme of our fourteenth South Brunswick Reads partnership will be:

SB Reads for Belonging!

We will read and come together to:

In our schools, we will celebrate this theme by reading titles that highlight belonging, and then center activities around these ideas.  The public library will also celebrate this theme with book lists and events.  Visit our South Brunswick Reads site to learn more about what is happening in our schools and libraries.

Our very first SB Reads Night was held on Wednesday, January 31st, at the South Brunswick High School from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.  The evening included

read alouds, an author visit, and snacks with cocoa for all our guests!

Visit our South Brunswick Reads site to learn more, and join us as we prove that regardless of our differences, we all belong together!
