I am a PhD candidate in the Ecology & Evolution department at Rutgers and I will be defending my dissertation this May. I completed my undergraduate degree in Ecology & Evolution at the University of Pittsburgh and completed by master’s degree at Towson University. I am interested in learning about how synthetic chemicals impact organisms in the environment and I have worked with a variety of organisms include frogs, aquatic invertebrates (like daphnia and snails), plants and parasites. I spend my workday doing field work (usually searching for amphibians), experiments in the lab, writing, and serving as a professor at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. When I’m not working, I enjoy playing volleyball, competing in triathlons, playing the piano, singing, watching musicals and superhero movies.

I am a PhD candidate in the Neuroscience department, planning to defend my thesis in the Summer 2022 semester. I did my undergraduate in electrical engineering in Mumbai, India, master’s in engineering management at Dartmouth University, and have prior work experience in healthcare innovation. In graduate school, I have broadly focused on studying the neuronal basis of cognitive processes such as attention, working memory, and decision making. I intend to continue in academic research studying how our brains implement complex cognition, and how this might inform our understanding of and therapeutic approaches for neuropsychiatric disorders. Apart from research, I am passionate about student advocacy and promoting healthy mentorship practices, and I am a eLife Early Career Ambassador 2022-23. Outside of academia, I enjoy reading, writing, and at times folding paper and dancing.
