Superheroes!
Welcome to our classroom family! District Theme: "Rooted in Resilience, Rising with Purpose"
Superheroes!
Welcome Superheroes! My name is Mr. Motani and you can call me Mr. M ! I am extremely happy to be your child’s teacher for the 2025-2026 school year! This will be a positive year for your child as we build on past successes and learn new things. I currently hold a Masters Degree in Education with teaching certifications in K-6 Elementary Education and Special Education –Teacher of Students with Disabilities.
You will be amazed at just how much your child will grow this year. Most likely, your child has had the seeds of reading, writing, and math planted, and during the course of this year, those seeds will grow and blossom, making your child an accomplished reader, writer, and mathematician! You will see changes in your child's thinking, as he/she becomes familiar with abstract concepts and symbols. The change will be dramatic -- just compare a tiny seed with a full-grown sunflower! That's the kind of growth you'll see this year!
We will be working very hard during the year to ensure students are actively participating and LEARNING. I look forward to working with you and your child this year! I am always available to meet or speak with you. Please send me a message on our band messenger app: Invitation: Superheroes 25-26 Band APP and I will respond as soon as possible.
You may call the school or email me at Mr M's Email. In return, I will contact you by a message on the band app or telephone if there is something that I’d like to discuss. I have created our classroom website. Please visit our website to view this same welcome letter among other resources that will provide a good sense of our classroom community. Our website will be updated to keep everyone posted on all events that take place in our school and in our classroom. Please click the following link: Superheroes! Browse and enjoy our website!
Things to keep in mind:
Supplies: While we have some classroom supplies for the children to use, please send your child with the following school supplies:
1 pack of Ticonderoga Pre-Sharpened Pencils
1 pack of Elmer’s glue sticks
1 12 pack of Crayola crayons
1 12 pack of Crayola markers
1 12 pack of Crayola color pencils
2 ELA, 2 Math and 1 Social Studies / Science Marble Composition Notebooks (5 total notebooks): Color does not matter.
Wired Headphones
Chromebooks: Your child has a school issued chromebook with a charger which they can keep at home for any given homework assignments throughout the year. In the classroom we will use a school issued macbook. I will communicate with you in advance if I need the chromebooks in the classroom on any given day.
Backpack: Your child will also need a backpack to bring things back and forth to school. Be sure it is a backpack that he or she can carry on his/her back. For safety purposes, the teachers are asking that your child only use backpacks to be carried on his/her back (ie: no rolling backpacks).
Homework: Students will receive homework on a daily basis to practice skills taught in the classroom. Our goal is to begin establishing a good routine and encourage individual responsibility. Homework assignments will be written in your child’s homework planner and will be on our classroom website. Your child will be receiving a “Daily Folder” along with a Friday Folder to transport notes, lunch money and homework. Please be sure to check the contents of the folder and return the folder with only things to be returned to school the following school day. The folder will contain information to let you know about your child’s day as well as communications from both classroom and office.
Meals: Breakfast and lunch will be available for purchase, daily. Children who bring lunch from home should have their name labeled on their lunch bag or box. For your convenience, we have a debit card program where you can put money onto your child’s card so he or she can purchase lunch without having to bring in money each day. You can access this program on MJ’s website mj.sbschools.org (Select "School Information" and then "Lunch Information" and then "MySchoolBucks Info") or you can access the system directly:https://www.myschoolbucks.com/ver2/login/getmain?requestAction=home.
Snack + Water: We will have snack time daily; please send in a healthy snack with your child each day, even if he or she is buying lunch. Some suggestions for snacks are cheese, fruit, yogurt, pretzels, cereal, juice, crackers, etc. Please do not send in candy.
Remember that school begins on Thursday September 4th, 2025. We have a sneak a peek on Wednesday September 3rd 2025 where your child can come, get a sense of the school and will get a chance to peek into the classroom. Come out and enjoy! This will be a very exciting year for academics and social development. I am truly looking forward to working with you to have a happy and successful year!
Best Regards,
Mr. M
