Course Prerequisites: Students must meet all grade level and prerequisites in order to register for Summer Institute courses. Failure to meet course prerequisites or the reporting of inaccurate prerequisite information by enrollees will result in withdrawal from Summer Institute courses. All prerequisite information is listed in the Summer Institute course booklet.

Fees and Registration for SBSD Residents:  All fees associated with the course are family responsibility. Parents or Guardians of SBSD students must register and submit payment through the Pay-to-Participate program.  Please note, there is a $25 withdrawal refund processing fee for each request to cancel a Summer Institute course registration.

Fees and Registration for Out-of-District Residents: Enrollment for out-of-district students will open on March 1. For students who reside outside of the South Brunswick School District, the application and course descriptions can be located on the Summer Institute webpage.  Families may print and complete the application and mail it with payment by check addressed to South Brunswick High School. (Mailing address: Attention Head of School, SBHS Summer Institute, 750 Ridge Road, Monmouth Junction, NJ 08852.)  Checks payable to South Brunswick Board of Education.

Option II Credit: specific Summer Institute courses for advancement are available for credit.  SBHS students will automatically receive Option II credit on their transcripts that will apply toward graduation credit, providing students fulfill all course requirements.

The Institute is open to students both inside and outside of the South Brunswick School District. Enrollment is limited and courses will be filled on a “first come, first served” basis. Courses must have at least 12 students in order to run.

Workload: In addition to completing all classwork students will be required to complete assigned homework. This will include studying for tests, practice problems, textbook reading and the preparation of lab reports and/or assignments.

Transportation: Families are responsible for transportation to and from the Institute, which is held at South Brunswick High School.

Attendance and Course Grading: Each course/grade is recorded on the transcript but not included in a student’s GPA

Attendance during the Summer Institute carries the same weight as it does during the school year. A full year course permits two days of absence; a semester course permits one day.
