Class Overview
Our primary goal is to foster a positive and inclusive enviornment where every student can development physical skills, enjoy physical activity, and understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Below are some of the key aspects of our PE program:
Physical Fitness: Students will engage in a variety of physical activities aimed at improving their overall fitness. These activities include running, jumping, stretching, and team sports that promote cardiovascular health, strength, and endurance.
Motor Skill Development: We focus on enhancing fundamental motor skills, such as locomotor skills, throwing, catching, hand/foot dribbling, volleying, striking, and balancing. These skills form the foundation for a wide range of physical activities and sports.
Cooperative Play: Students will have the opportunity to participate in team-based games and foster social skills to build positive relationships with their peers. Throughout the year we reiterate the importance of having good sportsmanship, domonstrating fair play, and encouraging our classmates.
Health and Wellness: Throughout the year we discuss the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Topics may include nutrition, hydration, proper warm-up and cool down routines, and the benefits of regular physical activity.
Safety: Ensuring the safety of our students during PE is a top priority. We educate students about safety rules and procedures while providing appropriate supervision. Please be sure to attend physical education in sneakers and moveable clothing in order to maximize participation.
Inclusivity: We strive to create an inclusive enviornment where every student feels welcome and valued. Please let us know if you have any specific needs or medical conditions that we should be aware of and we will be happy to make the appropriate accommodations.
